Older Versions of WysGui CMS
Interested in some of our older work? It's Open Source, you know. WysGui CMS is available in all shapes and sizes, for just about anyone. Some engines were very innovative, some not.. so.. innovative- But I know you get a kick out of every WysGui series!
WysGui: 0
A project entitled "Smart Site", this is actually the very first version of WysGui. Spencer A. Lockhart created his own custom CMS with completely new code, and no Internet access. After a couple weeks the Internet came back on, and for lack of a good available domain name, "Smart Site" was renamed to WysGui CMS. It's a simple attempt at combining WYSIWYG with GUI- WYSGUI 0.01 BETA.
WysGui 0 remained unreleased, and undocumented up until a newer version was already out. Unfortunately, there are no other links about it.
WysGui: 1
Released on a relatively off-topic section of "RAGEZONE Forums", WysGui wasn't the biggest hit at first. Quickly, however, development began. The Open environment sparked an interest in Web Developers. Many ideas of the original idea "Smart Site" changed focus, and WysGui was beginning to grow up. WysGui 1.1 was the very first release, and received a good amount of criticism. One security risk was found, and quickly fixed. Within 24 hours WysGui 1.2 was released to fix any related problems. The security risk was very mild, and remains the only issue found to date!
WysGui 1 Documentation has been overwritten by WysGui 2 Documentation. The information is pretty much the same for both, but WysGui 1 has some errors and installation issues.
WysGui: 2
WysGui 2 was the first popular version, with over 500 WysGui packages sent out! Released on RageZone Forums, DevShed forums, OpenSourceCMS, and copied by anonymous users to countless other download sources, WysGui finally made a footprint on the Open Source Community. The WysGui logo was briefly changed to a Footprint to represent the hard-earned impact for WysGui's versatility and efficiency. Scripts from WysGui CMS are being used on many other Web-Based applications and software for both Closed and Open Source uses.
